Looking to kickstart your career? Florida might just be the place to be, according to a recent WalletHub study. The study ranked three Florida cities in the top five best places to start a career, with Atlanta taking the top spot. Orlando, Tampa, and Miami were ranked second, fourth, and fifth respectively, with Austin, Texas, at No. 3. WalletHub evaluated over 180 U.S. cities based on 26 factors, including job availability and housing affordability.
Orlando, in particular, shines in this study. It tied with four other cities for the most entry-level positions available per 100,000 working-age population. The city also boasts a growing number of young professionals, one of the highest levels of entrepreneurial activity among large cities, and a higher job satisfaction level than most other cities. To top it off, Orlando ranks second among the most fun cities in America, so there's plenty to do when you're not working.
Miami, on the other hand, was ranked the highest in the nation for professional opportunities. However, not all Florida cities are created equal. Fort Lauderdale, for instance, doesn't make the top 30, ranking 34th. Post St. Lucie is even lower, at 179th, making it one of the worst cities to start a career, according to WalletHub. New York City, unsurprisingly, was ranked as the worst city to start a career.
So, if you're looking to start a new career, Florida might just be the place to be. With its vibrant cities like Orlando and Miami offering a range of opportunities, it's no wonder it's a top choice for recent college graduates. But remember, not all Florida cities are equal, so do your research and choose the one that best fits your career goals and lifestyle.
