Videos circulating online, shared by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK), reveal intense clashes between protesters and security forces in major cities like Shiraz, Isfahan, Kermanshah, and Tehran. These confrontations involve anti-regime chants and direct clashes, with demonstrators shouting slogans such as "Death to the Dictator."
And this is the part most people miss... Protests are not just limited to the streets; they've escalated to significant confrontations. Reports indicate that demonstrators stormed the governor’s office, leading to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces opening fire.
Adding to the tension, military helicopters have been seen flying over cities, seemingly to intimidate residents and prevent the unrest from spreading. In Kermanshah, bazaar merchants have been filmed confronting security forces, further escalating the situation.
The one-day shutdown has impacted 21 of Iran’s 31 provinces, including Tehran. President Masoud Pezeshkian is attempting to contain public anger, which is fueled by inflation, currency instability, and declining living standards. President Pezeshkian appointed Abdolnaser Hemmati, a former economy minister, as the new head of Iran’s central bank. State media reports that the role is "extremely difficult and complex." Additionally, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed IRGC Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi as deputy commander in chief of the Revolutionary Guards.
