Startling admission with a splash: Jeremiyah Love isn’t shy about naming the team he dislikes most—Miami. During his media session at the NFL scouting combine this week, the Notre Dame running back described his favorite hurdle from a game against the Hurricanes, only to have it erased by a penalty, and he added with a wink, “You can tell I don’t really like Miami.”
The moment came amid coverage of Notre Dame’s matchup with Miami, a game Notre Dame narrowly lost 27–24 thanks in large part to Miami’s stout defensive front that limited Love to 10 carries for 33 rushing yards and four receptions for 26 yards. The notable play occurred in the second quarter: Love ripped off a 10-yard rush that featured a hurdle into the red zone, but a holding penalty wiped out the gain and halted the drive.
That Hurricanes–Notre Dame game became a pivotal talking point in the later College Football Playoff selection conversations. Even before the 2025 CFP chatter, the rivalry was heated, and the playoff debates only amplified the intensity as the year progressed.
Over his three seasons at Notre Dame, Love compiled 433 carries for 2,882 rushing yards (an impressive 6.7 yards per carry) and 36 rushing touchdowns, plus 63 receptions for 594 yards and six receiving touchdowns. In 2025, he totaled 199 rushing attempts for 1,372 yards and 18 rushing touchdowns, along with 27 catches for 280 yards and three receiving scores.
Love declared for the 2026 NFL Draft after earning the Doak Walker Award and emerging as a Heisman finalist. He is widely considered a potential early pick, with some projections suggesting he could be the first running back chosen in the draft.
Analysts have taken particular note of him: Mel Kiper Jr. ranks Love as the No. 2 overall prospect for the 2026 class and the top running back on his board. In Kiper’s most recent Round 1 projection, Love is slated to land with the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 9 overall.
