The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) is calling on the international community to pressure India to resolve the Kashmir dispute through a peaceful dialogue, aiming for enduring peace in the region.
APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, speaking from Srinagar, noted that Kashmir is one of the longest-running disputes before the United Nations, persisting for more than 78 years and having claimed countless lives.
Minhas added that Pakistan has consistently pushed for resolving the Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
In a separate development, the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party expressed serious concern over the Delhi High Court’s adjournment of the bail plea for its jailed chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, labeling the delay as a deliberate tactic to extend the case.
DFP spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal stated that repeated adjournments of Shah’s bail application reflect an age-old strategy designed to keep Kashmiri political leaders behind bars without timely judicial relief.
Iqbal further remarked that the overall situation in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir is deteriorating, with thousands of political activists and youths remaining in prison, many held far from the territory under stringent laws.
